For the last 4 years I’ve be running the Spartan 5km, 10km and 21km races across the UK. Ollie’s exceptional 1:1 guidance and support across conditioning, nutrition and recovery phases of each race, has been second to none. He’s not one of these shouty coaches that wants to break you, but he will put you outside your comfort zone enough for you to see improvements in the areas of your training that will optimise your performance on race day. 

His knowledge about the really detailed stuff such as what to eat before training, active rest and terms like “training deload” are all explained in a way that helps you to see how it ties in with your race goals.  He’s a really approachable guy with stacks of first hand race training experience built from his time in the forces, so even if your either completely new to preparing for a race or a seasoned professional, Ollie is your man.

Training with HIPPO Coaching and Ollie Danvers has been class. Between work, family chaos, and trying to convince my legs to run after a long bike ride, I had no idea how to fit it all in. But Ollie somehow made it all click and made me laugh while doing it.

 

Even when he had his own stuff going on, he never dropped the ball. Always there with a plan, a pep talk, or the occasional reality check (usually involving the words “get it done”). It’s like he’s got a sixth sense for when I’m slacking.

 

Whether I was having a good week or just moaning about pool sessions at 6am, he never wavered. Top coach, top bloke, and probably part-time therapist at this point too.

 

Couldn’t recommend him more, just don’t tell him I said that, he’ll get a big head.
